On the english part of this project I have decided to write about the United States form of goverment.
The United States is a federation. It is a constitutional republic and representative democracy, which i've talked about in earlier blog posts. In the american federal system, the government is divided into three parts, state, local and federal. The officials (for example a senator) is chosen by vote by the citizens in the district and of course the federal(president) is chosen through a vote in the entire country. Each state has independence in a way, as long as they follow the U.S Constitution (the Bill of Rights). Crimes and accidents that are minor are handled by the state police. Greater crimes are handled by the federal police, such as massive gangster leagues or the mafia.
In the Supreme Court theres nine judges that have been elected by the president. The Supreme Court handles the greater federal issues around the nation.
Something that is worth mentioning that I myself haven't heard of before, is the Congress. They take care of taxes and laws all over the States. The Congress is the Senate and the House of Representatives. You have to be 25 years old and you must be a american citizen for at least seven years to become one of the 435 people in the house of representative.
The word republic is from the latin words res publica, which is translated into "a public affair". A new president gets elected each fourth year and can be re-elected once. The two major political parties are the Republican Party and the Democratic Party. The current president is Barack Obama, which represents the Republican Party.
I find the U.S politics a lot different from the swedish politics, but they are both based around one thing, representative democracy. There might be differences, but in the end everyone can vote in both Sweden and the U.S as long as you are a valid citizen, which is true democracy they say. But after browsing the internet for a long time, my eyes have been opened.
The documentary Zeitgeist, proves the fact that the government is corrupted. I really recommend watching this documentary, and please spread it to other people. Most people in the world have been brain washed by the media, which is also controlled by the media (CBS, Fox e.t.c).
